
George W. Sypert, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Sypert received his M.D. with Highest Honors from the University of Washington, School of Medicine. He then completed his post-graduate training in Neurological Surgery, Neurophysiology, Biophysics, and Neuroscience at the University of Washington. Dr. Sypert was recruited to the doctoral faculty of the Department of Neurological Surgery and the Department of Neuroscience, University of Florida College of Medicine. While at the University of Florida, Dr. Sypert was appointed as the Overstreet Professor and Eminent Scholar due to his numerous scientific contributions in the neurosciences which included more than 100 scientific articles and chapters, editorship of two books, peer review scientific journal editorial boards, national advisory committees (Neurological Sciences Study Section, NINCDS, NIH; Merit Review Board, Neurobiology, USMSRVA; National Science Foundation), and presidencies and chairmanships of numerous scientific societies. In 1997 he established the Sypert Neurological Institute which he grew into one of the world’s largest neurosurgery practices.
